Did I mention fun and mud?
Mud runs are all the rage right now! For the most part, these runs are less ‘races’ and more ‘events’. These events are less for the genetic freaks that run 100’s of miles per month and more for the everyday ‘fitness for fun average joe/joanne’. Most of these events have a sense of comraderie that leads to strangers helping strangers through obstacles. The sense of accomplishment comes not from running a personal best, but in doing something a little silly that you’ve never done before! These types of events range in difficulty from the mildly challenging ( http://runamuckfestival.com/about/ ) to the borderline insane ( http://toughmudder.com/ )* but they all have a few things in common; participants bored with regular running and a sense of adventure!
These events are happening all over the place and all the time. Rain, shine, summer, winter, you can find one. If this is something that looks interesting/fun/challenging to you and participating in one is something you’d like to add to your fitness goals, let one of the trainers at FT Capitol Hill know and we can help you choose an event that will challenge you as well as begin to prepare you for some of the obstacles in your training!
*Our very own FT Capitol Hill Trainer David Lange will be participating in a toughmudder in October and would love to have along anyone interested in pushing themselves to nearly absurd lengths :) Talk to David or email ftcapitolhill@fitnesstogether.com if you are interested!
