Bear with me through a metaphor for a moment.
You are a car. You have an engine, wheels, and you require fuel. You want to increase your horse power and speed. So you start making all the necessary tweaks and adjustments to your engine to increase horsepower and speed. What happens, though, if you neglect the wheels and they go flat? What happens if you put sugar water in your gas tank?
Let me spare you from further metaphor… Your muscles and bones make up the engine, the wheels are your mobility and flexibility, the fuel is your diet. If you have strong muscles and bones but no flexibility, you are a car without wheels. If you are strong and flexible but have a poor diet, you are a car that will not be performing optimally.
Focusing on all aspects of your health is necessary for your body to run at its optimal level. Just as you couldn’t neglect the engine, wheels, or fuel of your car if you expect to get anywhere on the road, you can’t neglect your strength, flexibility and diet if you want to get anywhere in your fitness goals! It takes all three to have a well-functioning machine.
