Eating Healthier: Kale

It has been called the ‘new’ lettuce. It has even been called ‘sexy’ lettuce! That’s right, today we’re talking about kale and how it can help you in your fitness goals. 1 cup of chopped kale is only 33 calories, but in those 33 calories, this hearty leafy green is packed full of all sorts of amazing stuff! It is a great source of both fiber and protein, contains loads of vitamin K (needed for proper bone formation and blood clotting), Vitamin A, Vitamin C, as well as a plethora of minerals. It is a VERY healthy choice when choosing greens.
Here’s a few ways you could start reaping the benefits of kale today!
1. Replace 1 cup of your normal lettuce in your salad with a cup of finely chopped kale!
2. Add 1 cup kale to your morning omelette (remember to finely chop it, as it is quite hardy).
3. Take whole kale leaves and lightly spritz them with olive oil and sprinkle on some season salt and then bake at 350 degrees until the edges are brown (about 10 minutes). Then take them out, let them cool, and enjoy them as a healthy potato chip alternative!
