Feeling stressed?

If you’re feeling frustrated or stresses, a good sweat can help you forget your worries and get back on track. But there’s more to it than that. Your body secretes a hormone called cortisol which is important for maintaining blood pressure, stimulating your fat and carbohydrate metabolism, as well as stimulating insulin release and maintaining blood sugar levels (you can read more about cortisol here). Cortisol is known to be secreted in excess during times of physical or psychological stress, but in fact, exercise is the best method for lowering cortisol levels that have risen in response to stress and has the added benefit of burning calories to stimulate weight loss.
So get out and do some high intensity training to burn off that stress just like you burn off those calories! Here are some ideas...
-Get into Fitness Together Capitol Hill and go to town on the elliptical,or the treadmill.
-If you want something a bit calmer, try yoga, with its emphasis on deep breathing and stretching.
-Or, you can schedule a time to beat the crud out of BOB.
